Rodent Control with Daffodils

$0 of $2,000 raised

Daffodils are an old way to deter rodents from houses and barns.  In many places in the world, you will see little colonies of naturalized daffodils persisting even around abandoned foundation

We propose to plant a dense carpet of daffodils around the main farmhouse to deter rodents.  As with other old farmhouses with fieldstone foundations, we invite a lot of mice, rats, chipmunks, and others.  This can pose a health and safety risk as they spread scat, and have a taste for the coating on electrical wiring (good friends of ours lost a house to fire resulting from rodent damage).

2021 has been particularly bad for rodent activity here on the farm.  In the fall of 2022, we will plant some 5000 bulbs around the farmhouse and begin recording our results in the spring of 2023.

All of our supporters contributing $25 and more will get a copy of our reports for 3 years.
